since I've been using LyX now for a couple of papers and larger
documents I thought I'd use LyX to update an old Linux Mini-HOWTO but to
no luck yet.

I am using LyX-1.1.1 (compiles now after updating gcc to egcs). Since
Linux HOWTOs are expected to be submitted as SGML files I thought I'd
use the Docbook class and then export to SGML, however, I have the
following problems:

 1) I haven't found a way to include code like in 'LyX-Code'. The
'LyX-Code' doesn't seem to be available in docbook, it is greyed out
in the pull down. When I use 'Meta-p c' I end up in 'NLyX-Code'
which happens to behave different (in my opinion not as good) than
LyX-Code. The problem I have with NLyX-Code is that it messes with
the line breaks. It actually joins lines where I need empty lines.
(BTW: 'NLyX-Code' is also not available as a selection out of the
pull down. It only works as a meta-p shortcut). My expectation was
that I could switch to LyX-Code mode and then cut/paste some screen
output directly from an xterm into LyX and preserve the line
breaks -- That doesn't seem to work though.

 2) I can't find any sgmltools setup which would be able to cleanly
process the LyX exported SGML into HTML. I have tried the sgmltools
and jade packages from the SuSE 6.1 distribution as well as various
versions of those tools which I downloaded from the Internet.

I will now send a test version of the LyX exported SGML to the
maintainers of the Linux-HOTWO database and see whether those experts
can produce HTML out of it.

Any hints/suggestions are welcome. Any Linux-HOWTO Authors hanging out
there who have successfully used LyX to author Linux-HOWTOs?
