It's a generic Redhat 6.0 system, right?
Send me Email with your symptoms and I'll send you back my suggestions.
You should be able to run the lyx-1.0.4 (or better yet, the newly released
lyx-1.1.1 RPM) from my ftp site without any problem.
My guess is that your tetex installation is messed up and needs to be
re-installed.
