I don't think that the best answer to a problem someone has with a software
is "install some other software"! And lyx & linux work also with efax!

I use mgetty for loggin, but only because of the callback feature, as you
can use any getty for this type of stuff. And we use HylaFax for sending
receiving faxes as that is by far the best solution for Network-wide fax
service!

Anything is simple if you know how to use it! And sometimes this is not
your prefered software but maybe something else :)
