Problem importing LaTeX

I'm not sure if this is something I'm doing wrong of a bug in LyX. I
exported a document I was working on as a LaTeX file so that I could add
some stuff to a table. When I tried to import it back into LyX where
there were figure or table floats the figure or table ended up outside of
the float. This meant that some LaTeX commands were in the main body of
the text so that all the text became centred and a few other odd things.

Has anyone else experienced this or know a way round this?
