I think by default LyX uses font names like Roman, Sans and > Mono. yes it does. when i remove the entries, which i save in session before, the synchronicity is again corrupted. when i try to edit pref file and set the fonts on Roman, Sans, Mono, the result is the same. so the problem is, that these fonts are not implitictly installed with my Xorg and LyX then choose the alphabetically first font for the preferences dialog. the question is whether there is some way, how lyx can configure itself according to available fonts and even more, whether it can check that the given font contain a proper charset to a given language. if not, then it will be better to keep english splash screen as the screen with inccorect font looks very ugly. the correct fonts here should be e.g. Times(or t.new roman),Lucida,Courier New. but its very probable such setting will break on another box or another language. pavel
