I also notice that 1. lyx -dbg generates no output since there is no stdout to write to. This may be OK though, since other native windows applications do not write to stdout either.
2. a black cmd window will appear for almost all actions that involve external commands (compile, view). I think this is because lyx spawns processes with consoles. the solution may be http://www.codeproject.com/win32/runsilent.asp?msg=1578551 . Bo
