I know that you can do that, but \limits produces something different.
It is similar to inserting a 3x1 matrix, writing the integral in the
middle box and the limits in the outer boxes. The screenshot
illustrates what I mean. It is clear that we can do without \intop,
but some co-authors use it, and it can also be used with other
symbols. But it is certainly low priority.

Is there some reason this equation/png looks so feint (pixellated?) as
I've seen something like this in an htlatex generated html conversion
which I would like to fix. Ekkehart supplied the original file.
