Log:
fix: qt3/qt4 save/restore of the window geometry and maximize status
Try to be more verbose next time Peter. The SVN log is there to let us
know what has changed without having to svn diff in the future.

Abdel.

Haven't we discussed the patch on the list? I don't wanna explain all
the stuff again in the log message.

Man, I am just repeating the rule here... not meant as an attack sorry. Personnally I find the SVN log quite handy tool. The log is there to summarize the discussion on the list not more.

<annoyed>But don't worry,</annoyed> I do not plan to commit anything
in the next time.

Come on, I feel guilty now. As I said I very much appreciate your help on the qt4 frontend so please don't stop.

The cmake build is quite stable (even if it is not
of interest), the Qt4 version is too slow, using Qt3 is a dead-end-street,

We will fix that eventually ;-). On my machine with msvc 2005, lyx-qt4 is almost on par with lyx-qt3. It is really not slow for editing, just for some special benchmark.

and the other frontends are not portable.

xforms no, gtk maybe...

It seems to me LyX needs a
complete redesign, but I don't think this is possible without years
of discussions.

Look at my last patch. Repeat after me: IT'S POSSIBLE!

The process when contributing to lyx is way too complicated for me.
It's maybe good for the stability of the code but it is not good
for the progress.

FYI I had the very same reaction when I first joined in (Bo also I believe). I still think that the LyX team is overly conservative but I have the feeling that this is changing.

I'm so glad to have finished this maximized patch, and don't wanna
start the next odyssey.

Well, you could help me with my branch if you want, I am much more "open" to changes :-)

There are so much special rules, the infrastructure is not ready
(svn messages without diff, no view svn), much energy is wasted
on trivia, too much frontends.

Agreed.

OK, I liked the traffic on the list, this is really an active project.

Yes.

Sorry for the LyX-blasphemous words,
but I couldn't stop me saying this after hacking LyX for some weeks

I hope you change your mind.

Abdel.
