I also tested the 8mb installer and it works quite well.
The spellchecker still doesn't check the first misspelled word. No desktop icon was automatically created and I'm used to that. Easy to fix of course. I sometimes use Foxit Reader.exe to view pdf files because it loads quicker. By default is is located in C:\Program Files\Foxit Software\Foxit Reader\Foxit reader.exe There always seems to be lingering path with spaces problems and this doesn't work with or without quotes. I moved/renamed ~/Foxit Reader.exe to C:\Foxit\foxit.exe and it works fine. I am not sure this is only a problem with the new installer. Reconfiguring was rather quick. But compiling Tex Information took much longer than usual (which is slow anyway). I will logon to the non-admin account and see how well the install proceeds for 'this user only'. Uninstalling and later installing Miktex to test the complete installer takes about an hour (on my machine) which is why I didn't test it. I read talk of a testing procedure. A list of bugs that have been fixed in 1.4.2 so that they could be tested to see if they really are fixed seems like a good idea. I think that lyx.bat might be useful for using that fix Enrique provided for foreign locales displaying English menus, if that is still a problem, which I can't test. Thank you and best regards, Stephen
