I liked how this was handled, warning that some functions would probably be lost but allowing the install to proceed. It works well maybe due to the fact that on the same machine I installed several of the helper apps for LyX for *everyone*. Spell checking was retained, but during the installation the Aspell .60.4 files returned errors about not being read. Maybe 1.3.7 spell checking is still working. ... I think there should be a checkbox to tick in order to have a desktop icon. Regards, Stephen
