If 1.4 and trunk grow apart, that would become a problem, yes. SVN
should help a lot with the practical side. But if trunk and 1.4 are
_too_ far apart, then the testing of the thing in the trunk will be
lacking in evidentiary value for the patch's correctness in 1.4.

Perhaps... I don't know. But I think it should be in the local trees of
people that do work with LyX, and they should report that no crashes,
document corruptions or data losses take place for them that can be
linked to the patch. 

I feel good about this patch; It is of sound architecture. But I am only
human and have been known to goof.
