Just kidding of course... 1.4 has at least two very good new features:
Branches and Track Change. There is one feature I am missing a lot: the
ability to make a reference to a figure or a section without having to
put a label first. Is this on your TODO list?
No, but on the list of "Top ten of LyX annoyances"...
I thought a bit more about that. There is maybe a problem with this
feature: if a subsection title is erased then all reference to it would
be invalidated. This is problematic because the labels would be somewhat
hidden. I was thinking about an auto-labeling feature instead, maybe
just a button in the TOC dialog that would call LFUN_INSERT_LABEL for
every sections. The TOC dialog could also show current labels and to
ability to edit them. A dialog that would offer this automatic labeling
the first time you insert a label in a subsection would be nice also.
Andre', who got rid of his TODO list two years and three days ago.
Then I'll put that in my TODO list but it could be years before I empty
it :-(
I see that you and Angus have a lot of Qt4 expertise. It would be a pity
for LyX to loose that IMO. Lars, Jean-Marc, when do you think it would
be possible to allow me to commit what I have done so far? The day after
1.4.0? I am now coding a lot since the first days (maybe 3/4 hours a
week), so I definitely needs some help. I have now something that is OK
for writing; most of the dialog work and I have resolved the blinking
cursor problem.
Of course there are still problems:
- the Document->Settings dialog crashes lyx but does not crash it within
gdb...
- the "enter" key does not seem to work in "Track change mode".
- I need an autotools expert that would integrate my qt4 frontend in
current code.
