Hello,
add a jpeg file in your document and have the file-extension of this
image in capitals. Hit the adobe-pdf button to convert it to pdf and you
will receive an error message like the following:

LaTeX Error: Unknown graphics extension: .JPG.
...e____Images_modulverzeichnis\string".JPG}
\end{center}
Try typing <return> to proceed.
If that doesn't work, type X <return> to quit.

if you change the extension to .jpg it will work again.
I am using lyx version 1.3.7-pre6 of july the 16. 2005.
