LyX was compiled from the most recent cvs, but *with* Martin's most recent speed-up patch applied. To test, I created a document consisting of a single long paragraph, with just plain text -- no insets or any special formatting. I started Shark, then typed a sentence into the middle of the paragraph. Shark stopped profiling after 30 seconds, which was before the sentence finished appearing on screen.
