Why waiting until 1.4.1?

IMO, a good starting release of LyX 1.4.x would actually include tex2lyx, 
assuming the format is stable, *and* get rid of sh dependencies.  If 
it's a shiny new stage, it should incorporate most of the relevant 
changes; one of them would be depending on Python, LaTeX, and ImageMagick 
only...

I tried to persuade to friends to install LyX on their machines, but both 
point and click minds thought maintaining the full ordeal was simply too
complicated...
