To guarantee that 1.4.0 is out somewhere and in this century. :-) > IMO, a good starting release of LyX 1.4.x would actually include tex2lyx, > assuming the format is stable, *and* get rid of sh dependencies. Those who would wait for 1.4.0 one month later (time it takes to test such a new feature) can wait for 1.4.1 two months later. It is a simple math question. ;-) > I tried to persuade to friends to install LyX on their machines, but both > point and click minds thought maintaining the full ordeal was simply too > complicated... Honestly I don't buy some of those arguments, no matter how many dependencies lyx has there will be always people complaining. OTOH I have seen the opposite, people that decided to choose lyx instead of another package for windows, and since the deadline was approaching and they knew I was there if it was necessary, they were able to do it all by themselves (I am talking about 1.3.5). Yes we should make the installer easier but let us not forget the other issues as well. Patience grasshopper! ;-) > Luis. -- José Abílio
