No problem with gcc 4.0. No problem with my no.po file.
The problem is that the no_NO locale has been phased out, and replaced by nb_NO instead, for resons political. no_NO used to work anyway, as lyx could use whatever locales it wanted. Something has changed, and now only locales supported by the installed os works. Before, I could try out french and german just to see what they looked like. Now I can't, unless I install libc locale support for these languages also. The solution is simple. Switch lyx to support nb_NO, instead of no_NO or in addition to no_NO. I don't know if any other distributions still stick to no_NO, web searches left me with the impression that debians switchover is kind of late compared to others. I did a simple test: cd /usr/local/share/locale cp -a no nb and then lyx came up in Norwegian again, using the nb_NO locale! I hope we can switch to nb_NO, even in a freeze. After all, shipping lyx without a working existing translation is a regression. We can keep no_NO too of course, if we want to. no.po should simply be a copy of nb.po in that case. I think I can figure out how to add a language. Will such a patch be accepted? Do you want a switch to nb, or nb in addition to no? Helge Hafting
