Jean-Marc would like the thing to be called "LyX" on Mac OS X and on
Windows and "lyx" on POSIX machines. Actually, that's only part of the
story. He'd like it to be called PACKAGE-1.3.6 if the user requests
--version-suffix.

To me, his suggestions all smack of being too clever, so I was trying to
think of different strategies. If these have all been considered and
rejected, that's fine with me. I'll just return to my hiding place far
from any tube line.
