While doing translation, I now and then come across stuff
I just don't understand. The translation won't be good that way,
so I ask for some explanations.

* The preferences dialog
- "spellchecker preferences"
. There is an entry field called "escape characters".
What is the purpose of that?
. And then there is the checkbox "use input encoding". What exactly is
the effect of checking this - or unchecking it?
- "color preferences" allow me to set the color of a great many things, a few of
 which I didn't understand.
"previewed snippet": What exactly is that? Previewed math? Previewed figures? Other? "caption frame": what's that? Float captions don't have frames, so it must be
 something else . . .
- "language preferences" have the checkboxes "auto begin" and "auto end",
what are they for? (Knowing what the "Global" box is for is also interesting,
but not as necessary, as the word is the same in Norwegian.)
- "paths preferences": What is the "PATH prefix" entry field for? A lookup path
 for something?
- "Copiers preferences": What is this dialog for? Specification of special programs
used for copying certain files? Is this because some files
need fixups when copied to a tempdir? Or when exported?
- "User interface preferences"
There is a spinbutton "wheel mouse scroll".
What's the meaning of the number - lines to scroll? I tried to test this but ran into difficulties. The mouse wheel seems to never scroll more than one line when all I have is lots of one-line paragraphs. (Yes, that sure was an artifical testcase.) One mega-paragraph didn't work either - the scrollbar had no room for scroll with one hundred-line paragraph. And it had two positions only with
two such paragraphs. Odd testcases, but still . . .
Finally, a document with a reasonable scrollbar, a handful of 6-line paragraphs (as well as lots of gunk left over from testing translated insets) simply
crashed lyx when using the mouse wheel. So I didn't find out this. :-(
- "Output preferences, printer" What does the "collated" checbox do? I
am not sure what that particular word means.

* The new updated po-file have many strings that were missing before. But some are still missing. - The dialog used for opening files (both lyx files and various files needed by preference dialogs) have the string "Look in:", specifying what directory to use. It is not in the po file though. Is this a string provided by the
qt library, or is some source file missing from no.po?
- The string "LyX keyboard maps (*.kmap)" is also missing, and it surely isn't a qt string. It isn't broken into shorter pieces either, the word "maps" does not exist in no.po at all. - I have also been unable to find "File name:", "File type", and "Cancel", for this dialog.
