In version 1.3.5, having instant preview active, the display of  math 
formulas on screen is done, and after checking in the temp directory, you 
see there some files, that generates the graphic on screen (0lyxpreview.dvi, 
0lyxpreview.metrics, 0lyxpreview.ps, 0lyxpreview.log, 0lyxpreview.tex)

In version 1.3.6, with the same equation, the only file that appears is 
0lyxpreview.tex, so it means that the conversion script is either not found 
or is not able to generate the needed files.

I'll send you a snapshot of the screen, having version 1.3.5 on the left and 
its files in the temp directory and version 1.3.6pre in the right side, also 
with the temp directory, so you can see the files generated.

I guess this is a problem of finding a script.  The older version had a lot 
of problems with spaces inside paths.  I don't know about the new one.

I cannot reproduce this. Don't you see constructs like a fraction when 
choose one from the math panel or what is the problem?
What do you have to "tune" in LyX 1.3.5 to get it work? - For me it works 
without any specials.
