At the very last step of the LyX setup, just before the dialogue box that says "Completing the LyX Setup Wizard Congratulations! LyX has been installed successfully." I had a window appear which said the following:
"Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library Program C:\miktex\main\miktex\bin\latex.exe A buffer overrun has been detected which has corrupted the program's internal state. The program cannot safely continue to execute and must now be terminated." This was right after it was asking me to download a package. I don't know if this has anything to do with LyX or the LyX installer, but I thought I would report it anyway. Ahh! Then at the very next step (Launch LyX) I get this: "LyX wasn't able to find any layout description! Check the contents of the file 'textclass.lst' Sorry, has to exit" I guess I'll look through the archive to see whether this has come up already. But if someone knows a fix, please let me know!
