Indeed, accent key don't work in general in 1.3.6.

Mee too, Export->dvipdfm and Export->pdf produces the error:
"Can't run python in ~/LyX/Resources/lyx/scripts/clean"
But there is no folder "clean" under "scripts".
Export->pdflatex works fine.

This has nothing to do with the pdf viewer because the menus View and
View->Update don't produce a pdf, so that it can't found by the viewer.

This is not yet possible in LyX. But you coul use the middle mouse
button to insert esxternal material.
