I don't want to separate it on the ui-side (users should not bother whether to use \thanks or \footnote, since it is basically the same concept). I don't know what is better xml-wise, but we could either check whether <Foot> is nested inside Author, Title or Date or define an optional parameter for footnotes <Foot type="thanks">, or maybe <Foot location="titlepage">. Remember, we have also a special footnote handling within sections (and, maybe eventually, within tables). So the runparams.intitle check should probably go to ::write for xml. For the current LyX format, this is not necessary IMO (but could be done with an optional argument). Regards, Jürgen
