Ah. Then it's my problem. 

It went away when I ran fdfix.sh on preferences, which apparently
remained undone for some reason. Now I don't even get the xforms version
compiled... link failure. Apparently a bad idea to switch frontends in
the same tree without a thorough cleanup inbetween. Trying that now.
