This is already fixed in qt 3.3.x (and presumably 3.2.x). However,
these instructions are still there in README.OSX because the 1.3.x
port relies on qt 3.1.x (because of other problems, I believe).
Also, the ControlRef thing is gone from recent qt versions.
For the 1.4.x port, Bennett Helm aims at using the latest Qt version,
so these problems are moot. However, if you really want to apply this
mammoth patch of yours, you can do it.
