I've been trying to get a new version of cocoAspell, a system-spellchecker for MacOS-10.3, to work with LyX/Mac-1.3.3 -- so far with no luck.

As a preface, the earlier version of cocoAspell worked with LyX-1.3.3 on MacOS-10.2. The new version works as a system spellchecker on MacOS-10.3, from a terminal, and in emacs. But when I configure LyX to use it, I get a popup saying the spellchecker failed, and suggesting that it may be configured incorrectly. If I start LyX/Mac from a terminal the only relevant console message is

ForkedProcess::kill(5)
Killed 18184

Testing with -dbg GUI adds "Created ispell" and "Killed ispell" to the messages.

How can I debug and fix this?
