And so is any 16 bit code... I just don't think it'd matter much. My thesis is ~300k when exported to .tex, so there are about 300.000 characters to be stored. That'd mean an extra 900.000 bytes on top of 12 MB resources currently used when loading that thing. That's almost nothing.
