Just type "LyX", and \LyX will be (1) defined in preamble and (2) used
in the latex output. The same holds for LaTeX=>\LaTeX and
LaTeX2e=>\LaTeXe.

This is a "clever" (?) feature that LyX has had for ages. What is new
in 1.3.0, though, is that the macro \LyX is only defined if people
actually use it (I had complaints about LyX outputing useless macros
and .tex files not looking very clean). I had not anticipated that
users would take advantage of this macro. Of course I should have done
so...

There are plans (I mean just idle talks) in the future to remove
support for this automatic transliteration and use a proper inset
instead.
