If the problem you are trying to solve is how to have child documents be typeset like when they are part of the master, it seems that you are trying to find an overly complicated solution. Rather than add hooks that nobody will use except for some wicked applications, it might be better to think about the real problem (i.e. devise a really useful solution, not just give people enough rope to hang themselves) :) JMarc
