because you, like me, haven't got latin2 fonts I suppose ?

I suppose Xlib will just display what we ask for. Whereas Qt has the
unicode and knows it can't be shown in the given font.

I guess that would explain that

If someone could explain to me :

1) what fonts I need, and what the settings should be
2) what locale to set
3) what set up / example doc is needed

If I can reproduce the failing case in Qt, but get the right results in
xforms, then I have some hope of being able to play with this stuff ...
