Wasn't Ruurd talking about using some extension library that 
supported shell scripts directly? I'm a little vague here.

But, more generally, if the name of the script is also 
configurable, then we're just outputing data to a black box. 
Make that black box a python script, a DOS batch file. 

Anything att all, so long as it's not LyX ;-)
