When I replace stdclass.inc by stdfloats.inc in revtex4.layout, I get upon opening the document: step: Counter does not exist: table step: Counter does not exist: figure step: Counter does not exist: figure step: Counter does not exist: figure step: Counter does not exist: figure step: Counter does not exist: figure step: Counter does not exist: section Counter does not exist. step: Counter does not exist: section Counter does not exist. step: Counter does not exist: section Counter does not exist. step: Counter does not exist: section Counter does not exist. step: Counter does not exist: section Counter does not exist. step: Counter does not exist: section Counter does not exist. step: Counter does not exist: section Counter does not exist. step: Counter does not exist: section Counter does not exist.
