The main problem with badly implemented features, like minipage, was adding the code to read old files. But this is done now quite easily in lyx2lyx. In fact, for character style, the conversion should be very simple: \character_style foo -> \begin_inset character_style foo \character_style default -> \end_inset Also, remember that I don't want to implement something new. We already have support for the noun & emph character styles. So instead of supporting 2, I just want to support any number of styles.
