I want to see what I used to use at work. There is a LyX-internal
"changelog" mode, that places changebars alongside each paragraph that
changes.

Any attempt to delete any text strikes it out (this requires tristate
since we want to be able to delete text we have just added, rather than
text before "freezing")

This way it's obvious what has changed, and the changes can be reviewed
easily. Once you're done you click changelog mode to off, all changebars
and deleted text is removed.

I had a quick go at this some time ago, and failed. But I didn't try
very hard.

I don't think it would be that difficult.
