This is not a good idea because of antialiasing, where edges attain a
color between back- and foreground.  The pixels that have a mixture
will not be affected by your sed command.  If you look closely at the
image, you'll notice some light fringes around some edges of some
characters, because the antialiasing happened with white instead of
the background color.  It really is a better idea to make GhostScript
know about the colors.
