That I know that it doesn't help, but after John last patch I am unable to run LyX at all. It core dumps at start with a segfault. So I think that I can complain also. Actually this was discussed, because I took to the meeting an Imac running mandrake 8.2 that had the same problem as you do. Lars concluded that it should be something related with gcc 2.95.3.
