Which is not supported by LyX right now as much as I know, isn't it? I just wanted to be sure. What I was thinking was to be able to select the first or last row of a tabular to be a Caption and then output it in the longtable. But this is for 1.3.0 right now I just would like to have a solution to the problem with the caption counters. So as much as I understood you are telling me that putting a \addtocounter{table}{-1} before the \end{longtable) (which is pretty easy to do) will solve this problem, isn't it?
