Yes, I know. I try to take this into account (actually, with tooltips 
switched off by default this isn't that annoying).

I read it recently. Very funny (and enlighting), especially the 
comments on MS gui design ;-)
The tabfolder comments are very valid. Indeed one row of tabfolders 
(combined with a "sidebar" as in most KDE and GNOME apps) should be 
enough.
