Here an improved version. The widgets are now in the tabular_options_
tabbed panel. Small other improvements.

        Added simple spreadsheet functionality. Now you get the row and
        column sums for the current cell (but excluding it) visible in
        the FormTabular dialog, and buttons are provided for their insertion
        into the current cell.


Personally I feel this is so practically useful that it should go in as
soon as it is safe again (post-1.2.0pre1?). It is not a big patch and
pretty self-contained.

I got irritated by having to type values twice, first into LyX, and then
into bc, when making invoices or other monetary documents. Of course
there may be cleaner (more modular) ways, but it seems like overkill as
something like 95% of what you (the average user) will want to calculate
is of the nature of adding columns, and another 4% adding rows, and all
that can be handled in this really minimal way ;-)
