Here's what I think about it: updateWidgetsFromLengthString was really meant to interact with LyXString I guess. If '%' makes no sense to a LyXString, then '%' should go. Otherwise, we can just explain to some pedantic user that all is oK. I've already forgotten why the '%' was needed, having read that mail more than 1 hour ago ;-). Angus
