it isn't my choice. I was working to other's specifications (ask Lars). If you
can make the single-click work fine w/o changing the up/down stuff, that's the
way to go (I obviously tried the simple callback some point along the line,
and didn't get anywhere, so if it works now, I must have changed something relevant
since)
On the other hand, Lars might have changed his mind - you know how fickle these
types are ;)
