you've missed the point. A checkbox is a checkbox is a checkbox. A radio
button is another thing altogether. Most toolkits have visual clues for
telling the difference.

You can bristle about "goldfish" a little more if you like, but these little
clues add up to a smoother UI experience. Every little unclear thing and niggle
take time to learn: we want to avoid unnecessarily shallow learning curves,
and this stuff /does/ affect it.
