Dear Listmembers, for me, I am fine with using another editor. By the way, this would rise again the question about LyX or not LyX. But not for my wife. And also, opening another editor for search and replace - a non-option (for her). What about defining such things in a header by newcommand and changing it by changing the declaration of newcommand? I. e. say \newcommand{\leftquote}{\glqq} for german double left style and \newcommand{\leftquote}{\glq} for german single left style or alike? You do write latex headers anyway, don't you? I don't want to be inpolite to anyone, but the best test (in my eyes) for a concept is to make DAUs work with it. I hear you saying that such things are peanuts, but I found that many things I took for "given" because I was used to live with them are not "given" in that sense (like using another editor I do not know how to use to search for cryptic LaTeX symbols in a strange looking document as my wife would point out(happy TeXing I said to me and vanished in my room ... )). And everybody who wants to understand my arguments should try to explain this to a person that started to work with word and tells you "why is this and that so complicated" and you have no words left to say ..... ;-) (besides saying TeX gives fun, but don't use the wrong word at the wrong place when discussing with close relatives ...) Anyway. I would appreciate if you could think about putting that on the wishlist. It is like deciding in advance whether I want to use Times or Helvetica and keep it for the entire document AND see it - only for the wishlist :-) I could not even think of doing all the very good work you guys do with what you do (even though my arguments from above may sound different). I am only dreaming of a word processor that is easy to use and works like charm - not like M$Word. Many thanks for your time, take care, (and don't take me too serious ...),
