Alt for LyX menu shortcuts "usually" does not work too well here (i.e. sometimes it works, sometimes I have to use Alt-Gr and sometimes it does not work at all). I have not found a pattern so far, but I'd rather not rely on it as the only possibility to uses the menus without mouse. And yes, I've never had problems with other applications.
