I really think that we had this discussion already. IMO LyX should NOT be clever. You can tell the user "well see this may not run" but you shouldn't disable/enable it on a 'clever' decision. Maybe I just want to edit a file export to LaTeX and then do whatever I want with the file (wherever I want!). We could have some general options in the Preferences which say: <> Disable all locally non available LaTeX features And we need a package/dialog where I can enable/disable certain packages (the above could also be in this dialog/preferences-tab).
