Here is the final patch I have in mind. The gist of it is to close buffers
instead of closing windows, because with Tahoe it seems that there are games
played with windows. And it is buffers that can trigger dialogs.
Testing on macOS wanted.
JMarc, I encountered the following problem:
1. Open two documents
2. Modify one of the documents
3. Choose quit from the menu
4. LyX raises the confirmation dialog, so choose Cancel
5. Unmodified document closes if it is the second document
6. The same confirmation dialog appears again
The 5. doesn't happen if modified document is the one opened first, but the
same dialog appears twice anyway.

I do not see these issues. Are you sure that this is with the latest
patch applied?
