ZERO WIDTH JOINER (0x200D). It is used to control ligatures especially in Arabic and Indic scripts. We have it commented out in unicodesymbols. I am not sure how one would support it properly (LaTeX usually does it the other way round: do ligatures _unless_ you advise it not to).
