Which I do now
I used to work with lyx, for a long time with debian, and now devuan.
A fresh new install of devuan daedalus and
Desktop Mate 1.26.0
and
lyx --version

shows effects on the display, which make it impossible to work with.
May be a deb package is missing or some setting has gone mad.
see the screenshot of the open file menu, which has artifacts and white
spots when scrolling with the up/down keys.
also mouse cursor selection seems to fail
