Thanks from me too. > I have installed this version. I'm a bit puzzled here. There has been a change along these lines. We now issue the following warning towards the beginning of the installation: ***** Due to changes in MiKTeX, installation of versions of LyX later than 2.2.3 can cause a partial update that makes MiKTeX unusable. If you have not already done so, we recommend that you update MiKTeX to the latest version prior to installing a new version of LyX. You may now either proceed with the installation or cancel it so you can update MiKTeX. ***** After that, we just do what the installer always did: Issue an update call for MiKTeX and then re-configure, which can trigger a number of things. I agree that, longer term, we should not do that at all, really, but that requires more changes than we want to make right now. > During the install I have seen a warning about admin privileges. This is all on the MiKTeX side, and another reason for us not to try to trigger an update, etc (or to encourage use of TeXLive instead). > The program ran without a problem, and I was able to compile and get the > PDF of an article of mine using pdflatex. without a problem. That, at least, is good news. > One thing I observed is that, > I think an older version version of Windows GUI class is being used in > 2.3.0. I marked the difference between the GUI of 2.3.0 and 2.3.0 RC2 > fyi. Top one is 2.3.0 RC, bottom one is 2.3.0 The version of Qt I'm compiling against is probably different from that used for RC2. I'm not sure whether it's "older" or just different. This may just be a matter of what 'theme' is being used in different cases, and so something that is user-configurable. Riki
