I have no idea what should be ideal for this, I just want to make sure this change is expected. See the attached screenshots before (2.2.0) and after (2.3.x) for the corresponding attached .lyx file.
In the after screenshot the cursor is fully to the right of the "f", but it now intersects with the subscript. Also, being fully to the right of the "f" is different from the cursor placement in text mode of an emphasized "f". Scott
